A 12-Bar Blues Tune with Heart, Soul, and the Golden Rule

This week in ukulele class, something magical happened — our students wrote an original blues song! 🎸 And not just any song… a 12-bar blues inspired by the Golden Rule. The results? Absolutely amazing. 💫

We started with a class discussion about things that feel unfair or frustrating — and turned those feelings into powerful, heartfelt lyrics. The kids didn’t hold back, and their honesty gave the song its emotional punch.

They even improvised a chorus melody and jammed out an instrumental section. The creativity was off the charts!

🎵 Verse Highlights:

I hate when grownups boss me around

I hate when my siblings touch my face

I hate when adults tease me just for fun

When boys get punished and girls do not — it feels unfair!

Let’s treat each other fairly and show we care!

🎵 Chorus Message:

“Don’t do to others what you hate —
Lashon hara and gossip won’t make you great.
Study the Torah, learn and don’t hesitate!
With kindness and love, let your actions resonate!”

💬 Bonus shoutout to ChatGPT for helping us polish the rhymes and keep the message clear and catchy.
